Las Ruinas
New England Culinary School graduate and cookbook author Executive Chef Craig Jacobs has brought his extensive experience with restaurants in New York, New Orleans & Florida to Boquete by opening Restaurante Las Ruinas. The big Tiki Hut dining room with glass, to protect against the rain and wind. Come for lunch and try one of Craig’s special Margaritas, Fresh Fruit Daiquiris or Pina Coladas, try one of his fresh fruit smoothies made with natural ingredients. Dinner is a real treat and the portions are Huge! Craig comes from a food family..his father has won several awards, including the Julia Childs and James Beard awards, for his work. Together, they have written several cookbooks including a 3 piece series called “Spirit of the Earth, Spirit of the West and Spirit of the Harvest” and even one about Cuban cooking called “Eating Cuba”. Craig serves up tender Fire Roasted baby back ribs, pork loin and chicken which come with a Great Barbecue sauce or homemade Chimichuri Sauce. Machu Picchu
Boquete has 2 Peruvian sea food restaurants and one is Machu Picchu. The Peruvian chef, Aristóteles, first achieved fame in Panama City with a restaurant under the same name. There are more than 50 entrees and a bit more than 25 appetizers. Make sure to try the heavenly rich red Chupe de Camarones (Shrimp) and do not miss the exquisite fried Calamari. For a main course, the sea bass with black butter and capers is just gorgeous as are the creamy jumbo prawns gratin. If you do not favor sea food, they serve meat and chicken dishes too. During weekdays try to make the most out of the fixed price lunch for $5.50. It is decorated with Peruvian art and traditional details. Art cafe, also known as The Creperie or The French restaurant
Danielle/Jean Marie from France are the owns of this cafe/restaurant with an ajoining art gallery and is a fun, funky place for a light meal or afternoon snack or dinner. The place is lively and colorful with poster artwork decorating the yellow and red walls. As an added bonus, there are vegetarian options here — particularly good is L’Argenteuil, a fresh asparagus crepe served with Bechamel sauce and cheese. For those craving something a little bit sweeter, La Symphonie with fruits, almonds, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream is delicious, as is the profiterole with chocolate sauce or the cheese cake. It also serves fresh trout from Boquete, great fillet Mignon, coq au vin, onion soup, French home-made pate, lamb as well as a large varity of great crepes like a lobster crepe, smoked Salmon crepe, or chicken curry crepe. This colorful place is a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal or beverage…..they offer a daily lunch special that includes soup, a main dish and a dessert. The gallery represents various artists, is open to including artists recommended by their customers. There are ceramics and small feather paintings that will make a great inexpensive gift. Sugar and Spice
Sugar and Spice is a gourmet artesian bakery in Boquete. In addition to bread and pastries, they also serve a light menu of sandwiches, salads and soups. All the sandwiches and filled rolls are made fresh in front of you and are just delicious. It is a popular and busy meeting place with locals and tourists alike.
The bakery is open so you can see the whole baking progress as Richard works the dough for his specially breads. The place is very clean, well equipped and the staff seem to know their stuff. The prices are really good especially when you think of the quality. Richard also makes some yummy cakes, cookies, muffins and more. The best baked goods in town.

Authentic Mexican food in Chiriqui. Taquería Antojitos Mexicanos will make you feel as if you were in a Mexican cantina with vivid colors and a Latin feel. Maritrini, the owner and chef from Guadalajara, Jalisco, will take you on a culinary journey of tacos, burritos, mole, fajits, chili, chile rellenos con queso and chimichangas. It is all prepared from scratch and fresh after you order, this is not a fast food place. The Taquería is exceptional value for money!
