The ‘healing crisis’
For some people having a massage because your neck and shoulders hurt can leave them feeling worse before they feel better. Others get a headache as the muscles try to relax and hence release stored up toxics. So in some cases people’s conditions can get temporary worse and if this does happen, which is not often, it is usually experienced for only a very short time. Generally, most people instantly feel better after their treatment. Do not feel you are missing out if you don’t experience a ‘healing crisis’, it doesn’t mean that your body isn’t striving for that balance, that it hasn’t activated the healing process. I have come across a lot of people over the years that have gotten a heavy cold after a few sessions of reflexology this is the body’s way of releasing stored up toxicity and emotions. Even though people are warned about this potential ‘healing crisis’ they have become so accustomed to taking medication for their colds over the years, continue to do so automatically without thinking. This is a shame as taking the medication suppresses the body’s symptoms, suppressing the very thing it was trying to achieve, by the treatment.
Other reactions that some people may experience after treatments –
